Frequently Asked Questions

Q
What is the difference between Perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, and Eau de Cologne?

The difference comes down to the concentration of fragrance oils — often referred to in the industry as "juice." The higher the concentration, the longer the fragrance lasts and the less you need to apply.

Parfum
20–30%
Eau de Parfum
15–20%
Eau de Toilette
5–15%
Eau de Cologne
2–5%
After Shave
1–3%

Note: Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are often used interchangeably, particularly in men's fragrances.

Q
Why do some fragrances seem to last much longer than others?

Longevity varies from person to person for two main reasons:

Skin type: People with oily skin tend to retain fragrance longer because the natural moisture in their skin helps hold the scent. Those with dry skin may find their fragrance fades more quickly.

Skin pH: Everyone's skin has a slightly different acidity level (pH), which affects how each fragrance ingredient interacts with the skin. This is why the same perfume can smell slightly different — and last different lengths of time — from person to person.

Q
What is the difference between a splash and a spray?

There is no difference in the fragrance itself — the scent, concentration, and formulation are identical. The only difference is in the method of application.

Tip: A spray bottle is sealed more consistently between uses, which may contribute to a slightly longer shelf life compared to a splash bottle. Ultimately, the choice between splash and spray is entirely a matter of personal preference.
Q
Why does fragrance contain alcohol?

Alcohol serves as the carrier that allows fragrance to project from your skin and into the air around you. Without it, the scent would remain very close to the skin and would not diffuse — making it nearly undetectable to others. Alcohol also helps the fragrance dry quickly after application and acts as a preservative to extend shelf life.

Q
What do fragrance notes refer to?

Fragrances are composed of multiple layers of scent called notes, which unfold over time after application. There are three stages:

Top Notes
5–15 min
The first impression. Light and fresh, these are what you smell immediately after application.
Middle Notes
15 min – 1 hr
The heart of the fragrance. These emerge as the top notes fade and form the core character of the scent.
Base Notes
Several hours
The foundation. Rich, deep, and long-lasting — these are what linger on the skin throughout the day.
Q
How can I keep my fragrance from going bad?

Proper storage significantly extends the shelf life of your fragrance. Follow these simple guidelines:

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat
  • Avoid bathrooms where humidity and temperature fluctuate
  • Keep the bottle in its original box after opening to minimize light exposure
  • Do not shake the bottle — this introduces air which can accelerate deterioration
Q
What is a tester?

Testers are 100% authentic, genuine fragrances made by the original manufacturer. They contain the exact same fragrance formulation as the retail version — there is no difference in scent or quality.

Testers are produced for use by department stores and fragrance counters to allow customers to sample a scent before purchasing. Because they are sold without decorative retail packaging — and sometimes without a cap — they can be offered at a lower price, with the savings passed directly on to you.

Please note: If UPC codes or tracking codes are missing, altered, or defaced on any product box or bottle, this was not done by the manufacturer. Such modifications occur within the supply chain after the product leaves the manufacturer.
Q
What does "unboxed" mean?

Unboxed items are 100% genuine, authentic fragrances — identical in quality and formulation to their boxed counterparts. The outer packaging has simply been removed, typically because it was damaged during shipping or handling.

Purchasing an unboxed item is one of the best ways to save money without compromising on authenticity or quality. The fragrance inside is exactly the same as the fully packaged retail version.

Please note: If UPC codes or tracking codes are missing, altered, or defaced on any product box or bottle, this was not done by the manufacturer. Such modifications occur within the supply chain after the product leaves the manufacturer.
